Wood&Wires
Eddy Roswell
Recorded in Colorado, Arizona, Nashville, Texas and New Mexico during the COVID pandemic shutdown, Wood&Wires chronicles the enduring connection between people even in the face of physical and geographical isolation. Family, love, change, loneliness, togetherness, maturation and thriving in the face of adversity all inform this remarkable album.
When we made this record, I finally had some distance between myself and my time as a songwriter in Nashville. In writing and choosing material for this record, I consciously tried to break all the stylistic and crafting "rules" and conventions that had been so present for me for the previous couple of decades. The songs have long instrumental heads, turnarounds and solos; the songs are long-ish and often lyrically more complex than most commercial country. To my knowledge, only three or four of these songs have been pitched to other artists. I was free! Like a sheltered kid, suddenly free to play in the mud, splash in the puddles and ride my bike wherever I wanted. Spencer and David were the perfect partners for such a venture!
